It's goodbye from us, for now...
Our beautiful community and creative whānau,
You may have noticed we've been quieter lately. After careful consideration, we've decided to take an official hiatus.
Since 2014, Mayhem has provided a platform for vibrant, powerful words from Aotearoa New Zealand’s writers. We have produced 11 beautiful issues of Mayhem, celebrating emerging and established voices. We want to take a moment now to celebrate and thank all of you who have contributed to Mayhem, who have attended our launches, shared our online posts, put up posters, and purchased the books.
We also want to thank the teams of volunteers who have given their time and energies to this kaupapa. It has been a labour of love all along.
For now, we are entering a season of hiatus for the publication of Mayhem.
A lot has changed for the Mayhem Team and the world is a very different place from when we started. We step back knowing that Aotearoa New Zealand’s writing and publishing space is in excellent care, thanks to the generosity and skill of publishers, editors, writers and supporters in our ecosystems.
The main bits:
🌿We're closed for submissions until further notice
🌿Our online shop remains open for now
🌿We'll still check emails for now, though less frequently
Our commitment to our literary community hasn't changed, and you might still see us partnering with local groups from time to time.
The final note is of course for our writers: it’s been a genuine privilege to get to know so many of you and read your work over the years. We're deeply grateful to everyone who has trusted us with their writing.
Ngā mihi maioha,
The Mayhem Team xx
